Highlights From The IAA’s PAC 2019
Each year, the International Advertising Association hosts PAC, which is a three day international media training course. PAC brings together young professionals from across the industry to debate, discuss, communicate and network, whilst developing a greater understanding of the advertising process – from the client, agency and media owner perspective.
As part of the course, delegates receive a live brief from a well-known client (this year was Reebok) and are split into groups to tackle the response to the brief. Speakers from around the industry also offer different insights to provoke thoughts and on the final day, delegates present their idea back to the client alongside a panel of industry-based judges. As part of the judging process for the live briefing, a delegate is awarded a prize for ‘Best Presenter’.
Following an impressively calm, personable, persuasive and knowledgable presentation about the brief and the brand, Captify’s Strategy Manager, Tehya Reardon was awarded ‘Best Presenter’ for the briefing response. The overall feedback from the judges, client and PAC committee was that “she really led the team from the front, kicking off the group presentation very strongly and ensured the story of their insight and idea flowed well.
There were a few very strong presenters at PAC this year, but given the connection Tehya made with the audience, the way she led the team throughout the rest of the presentation and the fact it seemed like it was a brief and brand she’d been working with for months, not just days, made her stand out and be a very deserving winner!”
Talking about her experience, Tehya said “if you’d told me when I started at Captify I would have the opportunity to pitch an entire multi-market product launch strategy to Reebok, along with a panel of industry experts I probably would have ran away in fear, but that’s exactly what I did last week at IAA PAC 2019. Since participating in the event, I’ve heard various industry peers quote ‘the power of PAC’, which I think sums up the three day IAA event to a tee. The experience was invaluable from the perspective of networking, learning from industry experts and gaining experience beyond your day-to-day role. Walking away with an award was an added bonus and overall the experience has really reignited my excitement for my future in the industry and my role at Captify.”
Congratulations to Tehya and a big thank you to the IAA for putting together an amazing event, we can’t wait to get involved again next year!
